WHATEVER IT TAKES
THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW
The Facts
The facts are simple and evident. However most elected officials don’t want the general public to look at the facts and understand.
We have lost millions of jobs to undeveloped countries. We have a problem with the spin of job creation by our Government. With massive trade deficits growing larger since NAFTA was signed and even larger losses when China entered the WTO (World Trade Organization) in 2001. We have all felt the effects. We can not have a stable economy when there has been such a massive loss of jobs in this country.
In 2009 alone the US Government is spending 575 million dollars just for retraining of workers that have lost their job due to outsourcing. This program is called TAA and TRA. In previous years there was 220 million dollars allocated for these funds. This is taxpayer money spent to out source jobs.
We not only lost moneys from the job and corporations tax base disappearing but we paid for the retraining of the workers affected. Furthermore that does not include unemployment and extra money provided to the worker as added compensation. Also to be noted is the fact that residual affects of losing manufacturing has a significant trickle down effect that impacts everyone from the mailman to the waitress to the truck driver (Which we are feeling now due to the bankruptcy of GM and Chrysler)which do not qualify for TAA or TRA benefits because their job does not qualify under the guidelines of assistance due to direct outsourcing. The Federal Govt. will site an increase in service sector jobs in relationship to these trade agreements however they do not tell you that these jobs contain a 33% decrease in wages when obtained.
So question one would be:
How are these agreements good for America in any sense when there has to be a special program created by the Government because of such massive job losses due to outsourcing and why is the American Taxpayer footing the bill when we have lost the benefit of the job and taxes
